Organizations

Non-governmental organizations or NGOs offer families a number of low threshold services: peer support, camps, training, courses and information services. There are many organizations and foundations in the field of hearing disabilities that have in time specialized in certain areas. The emphases have evolved based on the needs of target groups. Where one organization has traditionally offered sing language related services, another might have focused more on people using spoken language. Together these organizations form a whole that supplements the services offered by the public sector. The needs of families and their children change as the child grows and matures, so taking full advantage of the wide array of services offered by these non-governmental organizations really pays off.
